TheMSc studies in Physical Activity for elderly of Faculty of Sports of the University of Porto (FADEUP), is a graduation in the field of Physical Activity in elderly. This MSc aims to promote knowledge and interest in physical exercise, closely linked to the promotion of health and well-being of the elderly, that is, as a key activity for the improvement of the elderly quality of life.

The growing need in modern society of the promotion of healthy lifestyles and active aging requires health professionals with appropriate knowledge and skills. The Master Degree in Sport and Physical Education Sciences - Specialization in Physical Exercise and Health from the University Institute of Maia aims to qualify students to apply to methodologies and professional and scientific procedures that are suitable for the promotion of health through exercise and develop the technical and scientific knowledge underlying the assessment, prescription and monitoring of physical exercise in different contexts and in different populations. It also allows to develop reflective thinking and acting ability from the acquired.technical and scientific knowledge.
The study plan consists of an academic year with several disciplines that allow deepening knowledge and the development of essential skills for effective promotion of healthy lifestyles throughout the life cycle, with special focus on preventive and therapeutic role of physical exercise. For a second year the students will have the opportunity to undertake a work experience in a host institution or develop a dissertation thesis.
Mestrado em Terapia Ocupacional
This cycle of studies of Health Technology School of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto was developed to meet the needs of occupational therapists. They defined four areas of specialization in Occupational Therapy: Gerontology, Mental Health, Children and Youth and Physical Rehabilitation.
University Studies Program for Seniors of the Faculty of Letters, University of Porto (PEUS) exists since 2006, included in the Continuing Education offer the University of Porto for people with more than 55 years old.
PEUS can be attended by senior with a bachelor degree or who prove, through interviews, who hold a literacy level compatible with the requirements for participation in the program.
The PEUS covers two academic years with courses in various fields of knowledge and a third year which is for writing a monograph on a topic that may have been approached over the first two years of the program.
O Programa Doutoral em Gerontologia e Geriatria é a resposta à necessidade sentida de formação avançada na área da gerontologia e geriatria e tem como objetivo a formação especializada de profissionais nas áreas de Gerontologia e Geriatria, para intervenção direta, definição de políticas, planificação de serviços e investigação com populações idosas, com recurso a especialistas nacionais e estrangeiros.
